约翰·道森(John W.Dawson Jr.)，美国宾夕法尼亚州立大学数学系教授。生于堪萨斯州威奇塔市（Wichita）。曾获美国国家优秀学者奖（National Merit Scholar）。就读于麻省理工学院，后在密歇根大学攻读博士学位，研究数理逻辑。国际公认的哥德尔研究权威。道森教授就现代逻辑学史和公理集合论写过大量文章。1982到1984年间，他在普林斯顿高等研究院整理哥德尔文献。并在此后担任《哥德尔全集》的编辑。道森教授还是位娴熟的长笛演奏家。他和妻子谢丽尔住在宾夕法尼亚州约克郡，两人在编辑工作和音乐爱好上琴瑟和谐。
